We support journalists in our collaborative with:

  • Opportunities to participate in cross-jurisdictional, community-driven investigations
  • Peer mentorship from reporters with experience covering the system
  • Opportunities to connect with and learn from people with lived expertise in the child “welfare” system in a safe, low-stakes environment
  • Up to $3,000 annually to help cover reporting costs
    Ongoing editorial support (e.g. pitch/story feedback, FOI/ATIP requests, etc.)
  • Sensitivity edits by lived experts to support trauma-informed, respectful storytelling
  • Amplification of stories by the collaborative
  • Right to republish stories produced by media partners in the collaborative
  • Guides and resources for best practices
